WONDR are the proud winner of Best Data Visualisation at the Irish Design Institute (IDI) Awards 2023.

The winning award was for our collaboration with ESB (Electricity Supply Board) on their Real-Time Visualisation (RTV) application.

This was a unique and special data visualisation project, built with Microsoft technology, that provides complex power generation data from every power station in Ireland (including renewables) to act as a single source of truth.

The RTV app enables the ESB to understand where they are generating the most carbon across their portfolio and where their focus should be in future planning, forecasting, and delivering on KPI to achieve their Net Zero 2040 strategy.

We proudly announce that we have secured nominations in four prestigious categories at The Institute of Designers Ireland’s (IDI) Awards 2023.

The IDI Awards stand as a testament to the enduring influence of creativity and the exceptional accomplishments of Ireland’s top designers.

It is with immense pride and gratitude that we’re finalists in not one, but four categories for Best Website Launch (x2), Best Data Visualisation App, and the esteemed award of Best Design Practice Team of the Year.

As part of Design Week 2022, the Institute of Designers Ireland with support from the Design Crafts Council of Ireland have opened the IDI ReJOYce Exhibition to celebrate the best of Irish Design over the past 50 years.

The exhibition aims to showcase the depth of creativity and far reaching impact that the Irish design industry delivers to businesses across the globe.

A stat highlighted by Minister Humphreys from a Grant Thornton report which commissioned by the Design & Crafts Council Ireland, highlights a turnover of €53 billion across design & craft in the Irish economy.

The exhibition was opened at Two Central Plaza, Dame Street with a speech by the Minister for Social Protection of Ireland, Heather Humphreys. The exhibition plans to raise the profile of Irish design to the general public and will run from the 16th November until 2nd December 2022.

WONDR are featured in the digital design section of the exhibition with our work for clients from across home and abroad which include, 11Onze ‘La Plaça’ (Spain), Likha Aesthetic Clinic (Ireland) and CSSDA WOTY (global).

IDI 50 years on

The exhibition marks the 50th Anniversary of the IDI, who were established in 1972 by a group of passionate designers led by architect Raymond McGrath, who created a community where designers could support each other and encourage development of the design profession.

50 years on, navigating economic highs and lows, that profession is valued at €6bn and the IDI has continued to support designers and their businesses every step of the way.

The IDI Awards showcases the best in Irish design across fashion/textiles, products, digital, visual communications, structures & spaces, so we’re honoured to be shortlisted.

Over the years WONDR and IDI have crossed paths on multiple occasions, not only in an award capacity but also on a collaborative level.

At WONDR, we are always keen to get involved in events and contribute to promoting Irish design talent across the globe. This year marks the 50th year anniversary of the Institute of Designers of Ireland and we’re pleased to announce that our Founder, Dermot O’Shea, will join their panel of expert judges for the IDI Awards 2022.

After 2 years of online ceremonies, the IDI Awards will be held in person this year. An occasion of JOY to meet peers, colleagues and friends to celebrate the best of Irish design across fashion, brand, architecture, comms & digital.

A Global Panel of Experts

Dermot joins a talented Digital Judging panel fro around the world which includes Lucia Orlandi, Ciaran Bonass, Kristian Lember, Sarah Kennelly, Niall O’Kelly & Bienvenido Cruz.

WONDR have collected 22 awards over the last 12 months from some of the world’s most prestigious programmes, making Dermot an optimal candidate for judging at this year’s IDI Awards.
